Image Size Guide for Instagram, YouTube, and Social Media

Last updated: April 2026

Every social media platform crops, scales, or recompresses images differently. Uploading a photo at the wrong size often results in blurry thumbnails, unwanted cropping, or letterboxing. This guide lists the recommended dimensions for each major platform so you can resize once and upload with confidence.

💡 Tips for resizing

  • Start large, resize down. Enlarging a small image makes it blurry. Always start from the highest resolution you have.
  • Maintain aspect ratio. Use the "keep ratio" option to avoid distortion when entering one dimension.
  • Compress after resizing. Resize first to reduce pixel count, then compress to reduce file size further.
  • Use PNG for graphics with text (logos, infographics) and JPG or WEBP for photos.
